The Ultimate Guide to Writing Your Personal Statement and EC Descriptions

No more questioning how to start, what experiences to use, and in what way you could actually stand out!

By the end of this course you will have crafted a *compelling* personal statement and EC descriptions that fully encapsulate your journey towards medicine and who you truly are (without an ounce of writer's block).

You're a premed student who's dreaming of getting accepted into medical school?

You've taken the leap and made it through all these years as a premed of building your extracurriculars and experiences.

But now there is this huuuuge scary task between you and submitting your primary application...

Sharing your unique story through your personal statement and EC descriptions.

Does any of this sound familiar?

✔️ You are nervous about getting started and have no clue what to include vs. what not.

✔️ You don't know how to answer your "why medicine" and are afraid that it might not be meaningful enough.

✔️ You're worried your writing might not be good enough and makes you sound cliché.

✔️ You're constantly feeling like your story is not special, your experiences not good enough, or like this will all be for nothing

I totally get it, but this does NOT have to be so daunting!

These essays were my chance to stand out and prove that "I am more than my stats".

The first time I applied to medical school, I had ZERO clue about writing my personal statement and EC descriptions and made countless mistakes.

....forcing takeaways, completely missing to convey my "why medicine", taking up precious space by listing redundant facts and NOT giving the admissions committee a chance to truly get to know me and my journey.

Strangely enough, I still managed to get one interview at Case Western but never got pulled off the waitlist after that.

The second time around I used aaaaaall the strategies you will learn in this course which was one BIG factor that helped me stand out (despite my low 3.3 GPA) I earned 10 medical acceptances!!

But, what made the difference?

Instead of letting worry and fear of messing up my essays overwhelm me, I used it to fuel my determination to truly stand out as an applicant.

Before I picked up my pen, I researched the heck out of doing it right and how to share my unique story (without sounding cliché).

Then I used all the strategies and frameworks I gathered to create a personal statement and EC essays that I could actually be proud of.

Through this course, you will:

Have a clear, step-by-step framework to walk you through a bare bones outline to a first draft (that won't need 20+ edits or have to be complete redone from scratch)

Tons of examples of successful personal statements so you have a good idea of how to go about writing your personal statement before you even start typing

Utilize PDF worksheets throughout the course so you can *actually* implement what you learn in the lessons

Craft a stellar personal statement that fully encapsulates your journey and passion for pursuing medicine (without an ounce of writer's block)

Write EC and work descriptions that truly make you stand out - while having full clarity on all the nitty gritty details to consider.

"I never knew how unique my story was before talking to Maggie. I thought my story was going to be cliche. But after getting Maggie's feedback, I felt more confident on what I wanted to convey in my personal statement. I also realized how important the timeline of my journey is because only then others would be able to see my growth and personalities through my personal statement."

"Working with Maggie is amazing! She eases that concern of 'I am not enough to apply to medical school', which I think all premeds can attest to feeling."

HAVE WE MET?

My name is Maggie, I'm 29 years old, and I'm a 4th year medical student at the University of Colorado! I first applied to medical school during the 2017 application cycle and legit had no idea what I was doing.

I figured out what I needed to do to take the MCAT, but the whole application process was still just a big jumble of confusion.

I managed to apply (albeit late) to four schools, got 1 interview at Case Western, got waitlisted and never ended up getting pulled off the waitlist.

Fast-forward three years later and I got my butt into gear, took the MCAT again because my first one expired (!!), and reapplied.

The second time around I applied to 28 schools, got 15 interview invites, and TEN acceptances. I am truly humbled and grateful because it seemed like the one goal l would never reach (I had a low GPA AND an institutional action).

Anyway, now it is my mission to help you all have the same success!
